Style Cap / Carriage house

thermal baths 3 full, 1 half/2 full

The star of this 0.44 acre property is a Cape with central air conditioning, an inground pool, an outlet for an electric car and 39 solar panels on the roof of the garage to help power it. Installed in 2016, the panels, belonging to the owners, now generate 60% of the annual electricity needs of 1, rue Devereux.

Located about half a mile from Devereux Beach, the 67-year-old Cape is larger than traditionally associated with the design (3,278 square feet) and is being sold with the 1,665 square foot discount at 3 Devereux .

The Cape’s front door opens into a hall with stairs going up to the left, the entrance to the living/dining room and a hallway to the right which gives access to a full bathroom, as well as a a bedroom with two windows and a closet behind sliding doors. The full bathroom offers a unique laminate vanity topped with a porcelain sink, a shower behind a glass door with a white square tile backsplash and tile flooring.

Access to the main living areas of this section of the house is back through the hall. An entry opens into the living/dining room, where the center of attention is a gas fireplace with a red brick surround, white wood mantle and granite hearth. Directly across from the fire pit is a bank of windows overlooking the fenced back yard and inground pool. There is recessed lighting in the living room, but a large industrial-style fixture reminiscent of bronze pipes holds six Edison bulbs and hangs above the dining area. The flooring throughout much of the house is oak.

Through a wide entrance is the kitchen, which is another hub of the house. A door on the right opens to a veranda with access to the back yard, but a hallway leads to the attached two-car garage.

It is, however, worth lingering in the kitchen. The space features speckled granite countertops, white raised panel cabinetry, stainless steel appliances, a breakfast area under a drum shade, recessed lighting, a peninsula with seating under pendant lights and a glass tile backsplash.

Back in the living room, louvered doors lead to a living room with a pair of windows. Past here, the flooring changes to laminate and the atmosphere becomes more professional than residential. One bedroom with no closet, two home offices and a powder room with a stainless steel vanity topped with porcelain.

The second floor houses the master suite, a bedroom and a full bathroom. The master bedroom measures 294 square feet and features a pair of windows, a light fixture with a drum shade, a sitting area, and a walk-in closet with washer and dryer and built-in shelving. The adjoining bathroom offers a WC at the entrance, but the rest of the room is much more interesting: the space has a bathtub positioned under two windows and a skylight, as well as two windows in white wood covered with dark granite. vanities. One includes a dressing table. A separate shower, located behind a glass wall, has multiple heads, including a rain shower.

In contrast, the final bedroom has two windows, a door leading to storage and a single door closet.

The final spot on this floor is a full bathroom that has a tub/shower combination with a white ceramic subway tile surround; a double vanity with dark wood cabinets and a granite top; and marble flooring.
