FANUC opens first dedicated robotics facility in Ireland
FANUC has officially opened its first dedicated robotics and automation facility in Ireland – a 500m² training center and showroom in Maynooth, Co. Kildare – to deliver state-of-the-art automation technology , service and training direct to Irish manufacturers.
The facility was officially unveiled on October 11, 2022 by FANUC European President and CEO Shinichi Tanzawa in the presence of guests including Government Ministers, TDs, Mayor of Kildare, Ambassador of Japan in Ireland, academics, system integrator partners and valued customers.
Dara Calleary TD, Minister of State for the Department of Enterprise, said: “I am delighted to join FANUC here today. Ireland has a strong manufacturing sector, employing over 275,000 people and exporting over €135 billion a year. It is very welcome to see many representatives of the sector here today from all over the island. It is important for Irish manufacturers to know that cutting edge automation support, demo models and training are now available right here on their doorstep. We look forward to working with FANUC through our corporate agencies to help develop this facility even further for the benefit of Irish manufacturing.
At the launch event, visitors witnessed live demonstrations of an array of FANUC robotic solutions and automated systems, including: the LR-10iA, a series of light, strong and compact robots suitable for all types of material handling applications; the CRX line of cobots, a series of lightweight collaborative robots that benefit from eight years of zero maintenance; and the RoboDrill vertical machining center, offering precision and repeatability, making it perfect for fully automated production runs.
In front of an audience of 100, Tom Bouchier, Managing Director of FANUC UK & Ireland, underlined the importance of Irish manufacturing for the company’s future plans, saying: “Our confidence in Irish manufacturing is evident through this investment in FANUC Ireland. The opening of this dedicated office not only demonstrates our commitment to growing our customer base here, but also our support for the Government’s goal of placing Ireland at the forefront of the 4th Industrial Revolution by 2025.
“Our new Maynooth facility is accessible from most of the island in less than three hours and provides a showroom, training center and base for our team of five, which we intend to develop further. FANUC Ireland has never been more ready to help Irish manufacturers take their place at the forefront of global manufacturing.
