Lucid touts EPA range rating, says he will now build 520 Air Dream editions
Lucid Group is getting closer to delivery of the Air Dream Edition sedan to reservation holders today, as the company announced that it has started contacting customers to convert reservations into orders. 520 units of the Air Dream Edition sedan will be delivered to customers instead of the previous tally of around 500 vehicles. Inspired by the car’s recent performance in EPA testing, the company now plans to build a few more units than it previously announced.
520 reservation holders for Lucid’s launch vehicle will be able to complete their orders starting today, celebrating its recent achievement as the only electric vehicle on the market to exceed the 500 mile range threshold. The company wrote:
âTo celebrate our official EPA range record of 520 miles, we are increasing the total production of the fully booked Dream Edition to 520 vehicles. This means that we will be able to custom build and deliver the world’s most advanced luxury electric vehicle to a limited number of customers on the Dream Edition waiting list.
Lucid Air Dream Achieves Massive 520-Mile Range Rating in Preliminary EPA Testing
Previously, Lucid had said he would build around 500 units of the Air Dream Edition. Due to its performance in the EPA range tests, the automaker is now increasing that number to 520 units.
Last week, Lucid and the EPA confirmed that the Air Dream Edition R version achieved 520 miles of all-electric range, beating its closest competitor, the Model S Long Range, by over 100 miles. Lucid now holds the top six places in the EPA’s electric vehicle range ranking.
In addition to Lucid’s announcement confirming and finalizing vehicle orders with reservation holders, the company also announced that it will expand its exterior colourways to include the stunning shade of Zenith Red. This decision was made by customers, who asked Lucid to include the almost crimson hue on the Air Dream edition. This expands the possible colors from three to four, including Zenith Red, Infinite Black, Stellar White, or the Dream Edition-exclusive Eureka Gold. Dream Edition vehicles will all feature the premium interior Santa Monica theme.
Finally, Lucid has confirmed that their Production Preview event scheduled for next week is ready. The event is expected to give customers, members of the media and other guests an exclusive insight into Lucid’s powertrain manufacturing processes, as well as road tests.
