The asymmetrical roofline of this tiny cabin uses a Scandinavian-inspired interior to keep warm during the winter

The Luna is a small cabin from New Frontier Design that combines modern design elements with rustic appeal for a small cabin intended for winter.
This is the season for small cabins. Increasingly popular, small cabins are the answer to our urge to travel amid travel and other restrictions related to the pandemic. The season begins strong with new small cabins more picturesque than ever in winter scenes filled with snow, pines and candles. The tinyhouse builders at New Frontier Design Studio have been busy at work with their new tiny cabin, The Luna.
Defined by an asymmetrical roofline, the Luna embraces a geometric and angular profile to complement the natural ruggedness of snow-covered plots. Combining rustic energy with modern design, the Luna is clad in 100 year matte black corrugated steel for a look that’s both lived in and contemporary. New Frontier decided not to fill the Luna’s longer facades with windows, opting instead for a large wall of floor-to-ceiling windows at one end.
Immersed in all the splendor of the winter season, the window walls flood the Luna with abundant winter light to bounce off the clean white walls that line the interior. Stepping through the front door of the Luna, residents are immediately greeted by a plethora of indoor plants and Scandinavian-inspired design elements like whitewashed pine floors and minimalist furniture. A few steps from the front door, a staircase leads up to the master bedroom and also serves as a concealed storage system.
Leading from the cabin living room to the master bedroom, the staircase brings the owners up to the master bedroom, where a king-size bed awaits them. Perched above the open-story layout, guests of the Luna will enjoy sweeping views of the surrounding landscape through a skylight and window walls, where they will find the highest views.
Just below the stairs, black cabinets and drawers provide ample storage space to fill the full cabin galley. There, residents will find a full-size refrigerator, laundry services, a deep sink, an induction stove, and an oven. Just beyond the kitchen, the bathroom retains a spacious shower and all the amenities found in full-size bathrooms.
