Vukovar announces special live date and new video
The Brutalist House presents Eternity Ends Here, a celebration of the worlds of Vukovar at the Golden Lion in Todmorden on August 19. It’s the night they put an end to their three years of three albums, death, dissolution and cessation of existence. One last big shoutout to Dead-Friend, Anti-Father and sometimes member Simon Morris before finding peace.
Graham Duff is the mastermind behind the BBC 3 sitcom Ideal, the Mark E Smith collaboration The Otherwise and more you love. Esoteric lecturer and man of great taste, he will read his own work and join Vukovar on stage for a short play.
There will be an exhibition of works of art by the greatest living visual artist Andrzej Klimowski, who may or may not be present.
Originally starting out as a Throbbing Gristle-inspired boy band from the brutal Light Absences of Wigan & St Helens, Vukovar have now been partially transplanted to the pagan wastelands of West Yorkshire and are properly releasing their 10th album, The Body Abdicator. Perseverance is just one of their admirable qualities, as they say bid farewell to this iteration before revamping heavily once again in 2023. Other qualities include being annoying, a virtual litmus test for identifying repulsive and worthless people, and continually baffling expectations. Vukovar always offers unmissable Live Aktion. Tickets available here.
The band’s new single, Place To Rest, is taken from the new album The Body Abdicator, which will be released this summer on Other Voices Records (actual date TBD). It can only be described as death-pop; the chorus is great and the video was shot at the River Wyre, where Simon Morris’ body was found.
The single is also available in a very limited 7-inch version from Bandcamp here.
